High heels, cameras and art

Last night I was at the “Gallery 34″ for four events:

- young Nicolas Laugero Lasserre, founder and President of Artistik Rezo and Director of Espace Pierre Cardin, exhibited his art collection (curated by Anaïd Demir)

- and launched his Artistik Rezo Club (150 euros membership!),

- Pascal Lievre‘s performance and

- the visit of TV show Paris Derniere‘s team (Xavier de Moulins).

The gallery in the posh part of the Rive droite (next to Prada, Hermes, Givanchy and Sarkozy’s HQ) was packed. The works exhibited and art show conventional setting didn’t attract me – everything was déjà vu a million times. The exhibition title “Encore, encore…” (again and again) fits perfectly – but I came at the right moment just when Pascal Lievre who I remember for a  few interesting projects, have started his performance. In the basement, he was directing a group of young men who were repeating the sentences from Nietzsche in the rhytm with an aerobic-like movement.  They were wearing high heels and sport shorts.

While taking these pictures, I was watching Xavier de Moulins from Paris Derniere working and couldn’t avoid imagining how it would look on TV. Silly certainly, he would add fast motion effect, blur most of the scenes, delete the ambient sound, insert ironic music- off and probably allow few slow motions and the voice of one person talking in the ambient noise.

That would rather fit this show. And regarding the place  contemporary art takes in the society I’m living in:  I’d say  somewhere between fashion show, B4 party and luxury market. Somewhere between unconscious imposture and craving for authentic expression. Contemporary art is too obsolete to die? Next.
